Our story
Introducing the amazing couple behind Phonomenal – our mom and dad!
They’re Cambodian refugees who escaped the genocide and came to the US in 1983 to start a new life.
Our mom has always had a passion for cooking, and she’s been sharing her love of food with our family and friends for as long as we can remember. As the oldest female sibling of 11, she’s always been the matriarch of our family, and her incredible cooking has always been a source of comfort and joy for us all.
Our dad has been a constant source of support and encouragement for our family, always making sure we were well taken care of and had everything we needed to pursue our dreams.
Now that our mom is retired, she’s finally able to pursue her dream of opening her own shop and sharing her amazing recipes with the world. Her love of cooking is contagious, and she truly believes that food has the power to bring people together and put a smile on their faces.
At Phonomenal, we want everyone to feel like family. When you come to our shop, we encourage you to call our parents “mom” and “dad”. They see and take care of everyone as their own, and their warmth and hospitality are as much a part of the experience as the amazing food.
We’re so grateful to have parents who are not only amazing cooks but also incredible role models and survivors. They inspire us every day to work hard, never give up, and to always pursue our dreams.
